Case study: In nail oil glue formulation, the choice of photoinitiator is greatly restricted by the light source. Common nail lamp tubes are divided into two types, fluorescent tubes and LED tubes. Fluorescent tube emission spectrum in 370-420nm, LED lamp emission spectrum in 365nm/395nm. The emission spectra of the two kinds of lamp tubes belong to the long wave region, so it is necessary to choose the initiator that absorbs light with a longer wavelength.
Table 1 shows the absorption peaks of various common photoinitiators. In order to achieve ideal initiation effect, photoinitiators with absorption peaks above 365nm should be selected, such as TPO, 819, etc. Although 784 has a long absorption peak wavelength, its price is too high and it is rarely used in the market.
